Glaucoma Treatment

  1. Glaucoma Eye Drops: These are used to lower a patient’s eye pressure. Examples of some common glaucoma eye drops are:
  • Timoptic (timolol)
  • Alphagan P (Brimonidine tartrate)
  • Xalatan (Latanoprost)
  • Combigan (Brimonidine tartrate/timolol)
  • Lumigan (Bimatoprost)
  • Trusopt (Dorzolamide)
  • Travatan (Travoprost)
  1. Laser Iridotomy: A laser is used to create a small hole in the iris (colored part of the eye) to improve drainage of eye fluid.
  1. Laser Trabeculoplasty:
  • ALT – Argon laser trabeculoplasty
  • SLT – Selective laser trabeculoplasty

These lasers target the drain pipes of the eye to help them work better.

  1. Glaucoma Surgery: Sometimes surgery is needed to lower the eye pressure of the eye.
